Valetines Day

I am so glad that this website automatically saves a draft of you work every so often because my computer died while I was in the middle of writing this!  I was so sad and figured I'd get around to starting over and then just now, I realized it was saved! Yay! =]

We had a nice, relaxed Valentines at home this year.  Patrick and me agreed on not doing gifts.  We just wanted to spend time together.  We had a really nice day just spending time with Lucille!  And we went out to dinner at Claim Jumpers because we had been craving it for a while, especially the artichokes they have! So delicious. =]

Lucille's Valentine's day outfit.  Not too outrageously "Valentiney".  Definitely something she can keep wearing. =]

And then of course she spit up all over it...lol

Trying to grab the camera.  This girl wants everything now!!

So cute! Lucille now rubs her eyes when she's tired.

I just had to let her do this long enough for a picture.  She must have figured since we were sitting there, she might as well chew on something!

Me and my little cutie pie!

At this point I don't think she knew whether she was happy or annoyed that we were still taking pictures.

Hope everyone had a good Valentines Day with their loved ones!

Baby Beth & Acid Reflux

All is well in the Riley household and the doctor did confirm my suspicions.  Lucille has Gastroesphogeal Reflux (acid reflux).  Poor little baby.  He recommended I start her on The enfamil formula made for babies with acid reflux so we shall see how it goes!  They also weighed her and oh man...she gained 2lbs in 3 weeks! She's now 15lbs 10oz.  My chunky little girl. :)  She has to go back on the 18th for her 4 month well check and shots.  Oi, I hate shots. =[

So, while I was visiting my parents today, i scanned some pictures of me as a baby so you could see the difference and similarities between me and Lucy.  I still think she looks much more like her daddy, but now at least you can see too. =]

And of course, a couple pictures of the cutest girl in the world!

4 months & Ants

Lucille is officially 4 months old today!  Everyone always says how fast the time goes but now I really know!

See that face?  I think it pretty much sums up mine and Lucys day today (or even better, the scared picture from last time).  Oi.  Lucy may possibly have acid reflux so she's extremely fussy during feedings and she spits up constantly.  It's awful .=[  It also appears like she may be starting to teeth.  Oh man...  She's got her fingers in her mouth constantly. Well, if she can't get ahold of our fingers first!  And she bites down HARD.  I know teething can take forever too before they actually start popping teeth out.  =[  So she's been extremely grouchy for the past week.  Today she cried and cried and cried.  I finally got her to take a nap by swaddling her and rocking her.  My poor baby.  I hate that helpless, new mom feeling.  It's rough!

After her nap though, we had some happy moments so our day got better. =]

Now for my other topic today.....ANTS.  Oh my goodness, I don't think I can possibly explain how very tired I am of ants.  It's gotten ridiculous.  When we had our rain storms last week, the ants came inside for refuge and apparently they decided to stay.  They are the craziest ants ever!!  They are unstoppable.  They go after everything and anything.  You can't leave a coke can anywhere for more than an hour because they find it.  We left the house for a couple hours this weekend and when we came home, our counter was covered in ants because they found ONE TINY SPOT of juice.  Ugh.  I do the dishes every night, wash her bottles, rinse out the coke cans and put them in the can container in the garage (because it can't be in the house anymore), clean all the counter tops, make sure everything is put away and sealed.  Patrick accidentally left the cat food open for a few hours yesterday so of course they found that too.  This morningI woke up and didn't see any ants.  I was hopeful.  I got an unopened box of frosted mini wheats out of our pantry, sat down, opened it and took one out.  Then I saw an ant on my arm.  No.  No, no, no, nooo!  They had somehow found a way to get inside the UNOPENED bag of cereal!  I was so upset.  So our housing office is sending someone out to spray tomorrow.  But, this means I have to empty out all my cupboards so I better get on that. lol

Here's some more pictures from today of our little 4 month old!

The much needed nap

Always chewing on those fingers!

It was just an exhausting day.  I put her down to swaddle her and she passed out!

And I finally caught Lucy rolling over on video!   I can't for the life of me figure out how to post a video on here, so here is the link:

Patrick's new talent

Patrick has a new talent?  What is it you ask?

Scaring Lucy.

Seriously. haha  Poor, poor Lucy.  Patrick doesn't mean to do it....First there was the time when our rain storms first started.  I went to the craft store and left Lucy home with Patrick.  I called him on my way home to see how it was going and all I could hear was Lucy crying in the background.  When I got home, Patrick said she cried the whole time and he didn't know why.  Later he admitted, she didn't cry the whole time but she cried alot....because he made a scary face (along with a scary noise).  Then, yesterday, he was doing this kind of loud weird laugh.  The first time she just looked at him kind of wide eyed.  By the third time though, she started bawling.  Today he made her cry just by sneezing.  lol  Poor Lucy.  I think she's gonna be like me and scare easy. This is Lucy after the scary laugh yesterday:

So sad. lol  She was fine a couple minutes later, but you can't help but feel so bad for a face like that!

And lastly, I LOVE waking up to this smile every day!  I have been trying to get a picture of her nose scrunch but it's hard to catch. =]

My family

I was just talking to Patrick's grandma and she was telling me it would be nice if I posted some pictures of my family so everyone in Patrick's family could see them.  So thats what my post will be about. =]

These are my parents, Mike and Sally.  This picture isn't the best quality since it's from my phone but I happen to love it! (thankfully my dad doesn't have that beard anymore. haha)

This is my brother Matthew and my sister in law Kimberly.  They've been married for a few years and they both work in the education system.

This is my brother's son, Lucas!  He is about a year and a half.  He's such a doll!  He's a big guy and super smart.

This is me and Lucas when he was alot younger.  I definitely see some similarities between him and Lucy!

Hmmmm, thats all I can really find right now.  I'll have to try and scan some of my baby pictures at my parents house so you can see how much Lucy looks like Patty and not me! haha  And of course, here's a couple pics of Lucy from today!

First Post!

Well, with me and Patrick living pretty far from most of our family and having a beautiful new baby, I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog so I could update everyone one whats going on in our lives.  And for pictures of course. =]

Where to start....Patrick just re-enlisted in the Marine Corps!  I'm very proud of him and he's doing great at his new unit.  Hopefully he will be promoted to Ssgt some time next year.  So far, it's looking like he will be deploying in October which we are so not looking forward to.  Right now, it's looking like he will be here for Lucy's first birthday, but knowing the marine corps, it can always change.  We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Lucy is almost 4 months old now!  Last week, she sat up for the first time unassisted.  Of course I was sitting right next to her since after 10 seconds she started to fall, but I was pretty proud. =]   She was weighed and measured yesterday.  She weighs 15lbs 4oz and she's 25in long.  She's right on track with where she should be!  You would think that with that weight she'd be growing out of her clothes quickly, but she's just like daddy...long and skinny!  She's still wearing some of her 0-3 clothes and her 3 month stuff.

As I write this, Lucille is laying here by me, "talking" away.  It's funny because if you're not looking directly at her, she'll start cooing and it will start to sound more and more shrill until you look at her.  And as soon as you do, it's all smiles. haha

And me?  Well I'm just staying home with Lucy still.  I've been filling my time with all things Lucille.  Which includes making her bows (it can be expensive to buy them!), taking pictures, and just lovin on her all day.  As long as we're doing fine, I'll most likely stay at home with her until he returns from his deployment.  After he comes back and we spend time together as a family, I'll be going back to work (at one of the child development centers on base) and she'll also be going into a center.  It'll be interesting!

And here's some pictures for today of my little baby:
